Corgis are fairly intelligent, ranking 11th among dog breeds and comparable to a 5-year-old child. In daily training they usually grasp commands quickly.

They can learn simple skills such as house-training, handshake, sit and fetch. Corgis are also good at reading the room.

They judge their owner’s mood from facial expressions and tone, and when the owner is angry they immediately move aside to avoid punishment.
