How often does a female hamster go into estrus?

A female hamster comes into estrus about every three to five days, with a cycle of three to four days. They mature around two months of age and begin cycling.

Signs include swelling of the genital area and frequent licking, and they no longer reject approaching males. To avoid unwanted breeding, keep males and females separate. A white discharge may appear late in estrus. Hamsters cycle more frequently in summer and rarely in winter.
