Budgerigars can breed in any season, averaging one clutch every two months, about 3 to 4 clutches a year, and up to 6 to 7 a year if breeding often. They reach sexual maturity around 4 months and can go into heat any time, laying 4 to 7 eggs per clutch.

They do not lay all eggs at once but one every day or two, usually starting to incubate after the third egg.
