How often do mosquitofish reproduce?

Mosquitofish have a long breeding season; they can reproduce from April to November each year and give birth once every 30-40 days, so with reasonable management they can breed 3-7 times a year. They adapt strongly and can survive in water temperatures from 0-40 C, with the most suitable range being 18-30 C. They usually feed on mosquito larvae, and young mosquitofish also eat rotifers, ciliates and the like.

Although mosquitofish can eliminate mosquito larvae, this fish breeds prolifically, has a fierce and aggressive temperament, and is an invasive species, so be careful not to release it into the wild at will.
