How long until guppies can breed?

Guppies mature early and can breed at about 3-4 months of age. During breeding, it is recommended to place male and female fish in a separate tank at a 1:4 ratio. The pregnancy lasts about 21-25 days; a first-time mother is small and usually produces only about 10 fry, but later broods grow to around 100 at a time.

Notably, after the mother gives birth, the owner should remove her promptly to prevent the fry from being eaten.
