How long should a dog get sunlight each day?

Dogs do best with 1 to 2 hours of sunlight daily, adjusted to conditions. In mild weather with soft light, more sun helps immunity, gives a glossier coat, and relaxes the dog.

But in high heat and strong light, avoid sun exposure to prevent heatstroke; in hot summer, avoid prolonged direct sun.
