How Long for a Dog’s Urethritis to Heal?

Expert Answer

With active treatment, canine urethritis generally improves in 1 to 3 weeks. After diagnosis, first reduce inflammation via a long-acting injection or oral anti-inflammatory. If the dog has trouble urinating or cannot, place a catheter and do an ultrasound to check for urethral stones or blood clots, and give diuretic medication.
