How long does rabbit shedding (hair loss) last?

A rabbit’s shedding (molting) usually lasts about two weeks. Spring and autumn are the rabbit’s molting seasons, during which it loses a large amount of fur. Owners should brush the coat frequently with a rabbit comb, clean up the loose hair promptly, and may also give the rabbit some hairball paste.

Besides seasonal molting, abnormal hair loss can occur when a rabbit suffers from poor nutrition or a bacterial infection. In such cases, the owner should take the sick rabbit to a veterinarian for targeted treatment.
