Adult angelfish are generally 12 to 18 cm long, and with good care some can exceed 20 cm, so the owner can judge adulthood by body length. Growth rate is affected by water temperature and feeding.

The ideal temperature for growth is 24 to 27C; in that range the fish have a strong appetite and grow quickly with sufficient food, reaching adult size faster.
