After a dog takes internal deworming medicine, worms are usually passed within about 2-3 days. But if the parasite load is high, eggs may remain after the worms pass, so a second deworming is needed, generally one week later, to fully clear them. To reduce the chance of parasite disease, the owner should deworm the dog regularly and prevent reinfection.
