How long does horse mating take?

Horse mating generally takes 5 to 15 minutes. Horses reach sexual maturity at 1 to 1.5 years, varying with environment, diet and breed, but the body is not fully grown then, so breed at 3 to 5 years.

Mares heat in March to June, ovulating about 1 to 2 days in, so the best covering time is about a day after heat begins.
