How long does goldfish egg-laying take?

Goldfish spawning from start to finish generally takes 5-10 hours. They spawn intermittently, mostly starting around 4 a.m. and finishing by about 10 a.m. The belly stays swollen until all eggs are laid.

After spawning, separate the fish from the eggs promptly, or the goldfish may eat them as food.
