How long does dog gingivitis take to heal?

With active treatment, dog gingivitis usually heals in about a week. Mild cases need only anti-inflammatory care, but if tartar has formed, take the dog to the vet for a dental cleaning.

Feed soft, bland food during treatment to avoid irritating the gums. If there is no improvement or the condition worsens after 1 to 2 days of medication, take the dog to the vet to find and remove the cause.
