How long does a hamster sleep per day?

A hamster generally sleeps 12 to 18 hours a day. It is lazy and nocturnal, sleeping by day and coming out to eat and move at night.

It rarely eats by day unless very hungry, so provide ample food at night. By day give a dim rest environment to protect sleep quality.
