A British Shorthair sheds for about 2-3 months. Cats have two shedding seasons — spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) — each lasting 2-3 months, and the British Shorthair is the same.

During shedding it loses much fur; brush often, clean fallen hair, and give hairball paste to prevent hairball syndrome.
