How long do turtles hibernate?

Turtles generally hibernate for 4 to 5 months, usually starting from October to November and lasting until March of the following year. However, not all turtles hibernate; some tropical turtles do not.

Turtles usually enter hibernation when the temperature drops below about 13 degrees C. The hibernation period varies with the local climate, because temperatures drop earlier in some places and more slowly in others. One month before hibernation, the owner should feed the turtle more food to prepare it for the dormant period.
