If a parrot chick has no parent to care for it, the owner must feed it formula for about a month, after which it can be weaned. Feeding frequency follows its age: chicks under 2 weeks need feeding every 3 to 4 hours, and 2 to 4 weeks every 4 to 6 hours.
Generally a chick weans at one month, but if it remains weak then, weaning can be delayed.
