How long can a polar bear go without food?

A polar bear can go up to 3 months without food. In cold winters it reduces outings and sleeps in sheltered spots, entering partial hibernation. It is partial because it is half-asleep and wakes at danger, and in winter it just eats and drinks less, not a full seasonal fast. It also has partial summer rest when food is hard to find.
