How long can a lizard survive without eating?

How long a lizard can go without eating depends on its body size, because larger lizards can store more nutrients and therefore endure hunger longer. Some large lizards survive 1 to 2 months without food or water, while small lizards may die after just a few days without eating.

There are exceptions, however. Because of their special body structure, fat-tailed geckos store more nutrients and can therefore survive a relatively long time without food or water.
