How long can a cat with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) live?

Without timely, effective treatment, a cat with FIP usually survives only about 2 to 3 months after onset. If there is no abdominal fluid and it shows dry-form symptoms, it may live 3 to 6 months; the exact time depends on the cat’s condition and severity.

FIP is a very high-fatality disease that can strike any age; untreated, mortality is near 100%. Prompt use of special drugs like GS-441 can lower death risk to about 50%, but these drugs are still uncommon and expensive.
