Stitches are generally removed about one week after bladder stone surgery. After the operation the dog needs to fast from food and water for about 6 hours.
During recovery keep the environment quiet and comfortable, and keep the Elizabethan collar on until the wound heals to stop the dog biting the catheter.
The vet usually gives medication to prevent wound infection. If recovery goes well, stitches come out around one week, and once the dog urinates normally it can go home.
