How soon a dog shows tapeworm symptoms depends on the number of worms. At first with few worms there are no obvious signs, but check the stool and you may see rice-sized white segments.
As infection worsens and worms increase, the dog shows vomiting, ravenous eating, constipation or diarrhea, and clear thinning. If these appear, take it to a vet promptly.
