Expert Answer

The Maidun brand does not produce dog food specifically for Alaskan Malamutes, but it offers a wide range of products. Large-breed options include the B3 complete adult formula, the B2 classic complete formula, and a medium-to-large breed general formula. However, Maidun’s main ingredients are mostly meat meal, corn, and gluten—relatively cheap raw materials—and grains and gluten can cause allergic reactions, making them unsuitable for dogs with sensitive stomachs.

In addition, the second ingredient in Maidun’s B3 complete adult formula is flour, so its starch content is necessarily high and its nutritional value is low. We don’t recommend feeding it long term.

I fed a similar grain-heavy food to my Malamute pup and switched because the article's concern is valid, meat meal and gluten aren't great for a sensitive stomach and big breeds need joint support. Maidun's starch-heavy B3 formula would worry me for a growing Malamute. If you're feeding one, watch for itch or soft stool and consider a large-breed puppy food with real meat first. Mine does better on that. Big pups need the right calcium and protein balance, talk to your vet on the pick before committing.
