A dog’s vision is actually quite good. Although dogs are slightly nearsighted and color blind by nature, their eyesight is not as poor as commonly thought. Normally they can see about 50 meters, and their eyes gather light very well, letting them see more clearly than humans in dim light.

Because a dog’s eyes sit on the sides of the head, their field of view is much wider than a human’s, with binocular vision reaching about 250-300 degrees.
