How does a dog behave when it is sad?

When a dog is sad, it generally shows signs such as depression, loss of appetite, unwillingness to move, reluctance to interact with people, sleepiness and constantly drooping ears. If the sadness is caused by the loss of its owner or abuse, the dog may even choose to run away from home and refuse to return.

Owners should spend more time with their dog, gently stroking its head and back to soothe its emotions. You can also offer some snacks or bring out its favorite toy to divert the dog’s attention.
