A Samoyed can start simple training at 2–3 months old. At this stage use treat rewards: when the dog is a bit hungry, use food to draw its attention, then give a command. If it doesn’t know what to do at first, guide it by hand, and once it does it right, reward the treat promptly—the Samoyed then builds a conditioned response and learns the action brings a reward.

When the Samoyed is older, take it out on a leash for training to build the habit of walking alongside you. If it keeps charging forward, tighten the leash promptly and scold it mildly. If it runs to either side, pull the leash the opposite way to bring it back on track.
