How do puppies like to be held?

One- to two-month puppies usually like being held with one hand under the chest and one under the rear; the chest hand should open fingers to hold the two front legs, then hold the pup close with both arms for security. Most small breeds can be held this way. Avoid the baby-style hold, which burdens the waist.

If the owner is sitting, let the puppy lie on your lap with its front paws on your arm; this gives security and brings it closer to you.
