The Highland cat’s full name is Highland Fold, a variant of the Scottish Fold. It has dense, thick fur and a sturdy build, moves gracefully and looks energetic, and is usually very clingy, constantly pestering its owner or other animals to play. Note that Highland Folds generally carry a genetic defect and may develop bone disease to varying degrees after adulthood, with an incidence around 60 percent; a few show obvious disease at birth, mainly reluctance to move, difficulty with the hind legs, and a stiff, painful tail. If you notice abnormalities, take the cat to a vet promptly.
