How can I prevent my Bulldog from overheating?

Because Bulldogs are short-nosed with narrow airways, they overheat more easily in high temperatures; without prompt care this can cause serious health problems or even death.

In hot summer weather, take these precautions: avoid strenuous exercise in direct sun, and walk the dog in the early morning or evening. Always provide cool, clean drinking water so it can stay hydrated.

Also watch the dog’s temperature and energy closely. If you notice a rising temperature, rapid breathing, or other abnormal signs, move it to a shady, cool spot to rest, and keep the indoor area well ventilated.
