Found white hair on the dog’s nose bridge, it’s hair loss; suspect skin disease – what ointment to use?

Hair loss on a dog’s nose bridge may be from a scrape or skin infection. If there was an injury, clean the wound with iodine to prevent infection and inflammation; once the scab falls, hair grows back.

Many skin infections cause nose-bridge hair loss, commonly fungal disease, sarcoptic or demodectic mange, and bacterial infection. The first two cause hair loss, scales and scabs with severe itch; bacterial infection mainly causes hair loss and scabs. Get a skin scraping exam at the vet to confirm the cause, then treat accordingly to avoid spreading.
