Does a cat know its owner is good to it?

Cats do know their owner is good to them. Although they seem aloof on the surface, in contact with the owner they sense no malice and know they are treated kindly, gradually forming affection.

But cats are less submissive than dogs; they generally do not ‘imprint’ on an owner, instead treating the owner like a parent, sibling, companion, or child. Some cats, after spending time with the owner, even become very clingy, following wherever the owner goes.
