Black shrimp generally do not eat fish poop. They are omnivorous and usually prefer the algae and plankton in the tank, as well as various food scraps and the bodies of dead fish and shrimp. Only when food is severely lacking might a black shrimp eat a little fish poop or nibble on tender aquatic plants to stave off hunger.
Captive black shrimp can be fed frozen bloodworms and commercial shrimp pellets; if those are unavailable, fish food or turtle food works too. They do not need frequent feeding; every 3 to 5 days is generally enough.
