πŸ“ Summary

Cat deworming has internal and external types, very different, targeting different parasites. Both are needed and not interchangeable. Here are the timing and notes.

1 Overview

(1) Parasite types

Internal parasites: roundworm, hookworm, coccidia, tapeworm, liver fluke. They steal nutrition and release toxins, causing disease and even infecting humans. Indoor cats lower risk but still need deworming~~

Especially newly adopted strays, free-roaming cats, and raw-meat diets

(2) Dewormer types

Common cat internal dewormers include several well-known brands; the famous ones are effective but pricier β€” now around 45 yuan per pill, quite a pinch for owners.

But many good products exist, e.g., a popular broad-spectrum dewormer,

a 4-tablet broad-spectrum pet dewormer

Broad-spectrum; such dewormers are best-sellers

(3) Dosage

Dewormers are toxic β€” follow the label, weigh the cat, dose by weight. Leftovers can go to strays.

(4) Deworming notes

Deworm 3–4 hours after eating, then withhold food 5–6 hours for efficacy.

A few days after, dead parasites/eggs pass in stool; weak cats may vomit or be lethargic; if diarrhea, consult a vet.
