Feline calicivirus basically cannot heal on its own and requires prompt treatment to avoid further worsening of the condition. Calicivirus is a severe contagious disease in cats; it not only has a high incidence rate but can also cause various serious symptoms such as pneumonia and mouth ulcers, seriously affecting the cat’s appetite and quality of life and possibly even leading to death. A cat infected with calicivirus might recover on its own if its immunity is good, but this is relatively rare. Therefore, if a cat is infected with calicivirus and shows symptoms, take it to a veterinary hospital for treatment as early as possible.
