Can cats eat shrimp shells?

Do not feed shrimp shells directly, as they are hard and can easily cut the mouth, throat, or gastrointestinal tract while swallowing, even causing serious secondary infection. But cooked and mashed shells are acceptable.

However, shells have little nutrition, so they are not recommended. Owners can feed shrimp meat, which is rich in protein, vitamins, trace minerals, and other nutrients the cat needs. But do not feed shrimp meat often or in large amounts, or it may cause pickiness and indigestion.
