Can cat ear mites heal on their own?

Cat ear mites cannot heal on their own. They are a highly contagious parasitic disease, and they multiply and spread quickly, even infecting the cat’s face, eye area and neck. The infected areas itch, redden and hurt, and generally will not self-heal. So if you find ear mites, treat the cat promptly: use a topical anti-mite parasite medication and an ear-cleaning solution, and keep cleaning the ears with the solution throughout treatment.
