A dog’s venereal wart (canine transmissible venereal tumor) generally does not spread to humans, but the owner should still avoid direct contact with the wart on the dog.

These warts can spread from dog to dog through mating, so if you suspect your dog has one, isolate it promptly and take it to a veterinary hospital. If the wart is around the genitals, it is usually treated by surgical removal; if the tumor is around the mouth or inside it, oral anti-tumor medication can be tried.
