A Teddy generally starts curling at 3-4 months; some purebred Teddies are born curly. If the puppy coat that grows in is straight, you can shave it around 3 months, after which the regrowth is usually curly, with length and curl increasing over time.

But shaving is not required, because the Teddy gradually changes coat around 4 months and slowly grows curly hair on its own.
