A Rottweiler usually starts head development around 4 months; some undernourished ones may not start until 6-8 months. The ‘blooming’ is caused by expansion of the chewing muscles.

At 4 months, feed appropriate hard bones or bone bars to promote it. If the dog’s teeth or stomach are fragile and easily injured by bones, use safer chew sticks instead to help head development.
