Generally a Teddy dog can have its puppy coat clipped at about 4 to 5 months of age, which helps grow a harder, higher-quality curly coat; by 7 to 8 months the coat has mostly grown back and you can take it to a groomer for styling.

After clipping, add some lecithin to help the coat grow softer and better. It is also best to clip in warm weather to avoid the shaved dog catching a chill.
