Are goldfish easy to keep alive?

Goldfish are fairly easy to keep, especially comet goldfish, which adapt strongly to the environment and are not demanding about water temperature or quality – beginners are usually advised to start with goldfish.

They can survive in water from 0-39C, with 20-28C being ideal, but avoid sudden large temperature swings or their immunity drops and they may get sick or die. They also tolerate a wide pH range of 5.5-9.5, preferring 7.5-8.5.

Finally, goldfish are omnivorous and can be fed prepared pellets or live food, as well as bread crumbs, rice, and wheat bran.
