A Guide to Cleaning Your Cat’s Ears

Normal earwax is oily, light brown; ear mites cause extreme itch, and the cat scratches with front and back legs.

So what are ear mites?

Ear mites, aka ear mange mites, scientific name Otodectes cynotis, are common ear parasites of cats and dogs. Mostly in the ear canal, sometimes head, neck, tail.

If your cat truly has ear mites, don’t panic—treatment is simple, three steps: clean the canal, apply medicine, whole-body deworm. Use a plant-based ear cleaner, gentle and soothing, more accepted.

How to clean ear mites? Actually simple:

First pour the ear cleaner into the ear.

Then close the ear and massage from the base upward so the cleaner absorbs fully.

Finally use a cotton swab to remove discharge. After cleaning, prepare the ear-mite medicine and drop it in.

Finally, for complete treatment, do a whole-body external deworm to prevent other parasites.

Ear mites aren’t scary and don’t spread to humans, so don’t panic.

Special note: kittens under three months should be cleaned by a professional to avoid stress.
