1 Why Cats Shake and Tremble

I. Causes of Trembling: 1. An unfamiliar environment makes the cat nervous and unable to relax, causing full-body shaking. 2. Fear of a threatening enemy can make a cat tremble. 3. Cold weather and insufficient warmth cause shivering. 4. Heatstroke, pain, and similar factors also cause shaking. 5. Whole-body trembling can be a sign of disease. If trembling is accompanied by other disease symptoms, take the cat to a vet immediately to identify the cause and treat it specifically – this relieves the shaking and helps recovery.

II. Care for a Trembling Cat: 1. A sick cat needs warmth and protection from drafts (especially cross-breezes); change bedding often and, if needed, place a warm water bottle in the bed; watch the condition and seek veterinary help if it worsens. 2. Poor appetite is common in sick cats. A cat may not eat solid food but rarely starves; however, worsening vomiting and diarrhea cause severe dehydration that can quickly become fatal. Offer nutritious liquid food – if the cat cannot eat on its own, feed 1-3 teaspoons by spoon at intervals to maintain nutrition.
