Exposed flesh usually comes from trauma or skin infection. For trauma, clean and disinfect the wound; deep wounds need vet suturing.
If skin infection is suspected, get a skin scraping and tests at a vet to check for fungus, parasites, or other disease, then treat the cause.

My hamster had an open spot like that from a cage-bar scrape, and I cleaned it with saline and kept the bedding super clean, it closed up. But "exposed flesh" can also be infection or a bite that's deeper than it looks. Flush it, dab a pet-safe antiseptic, and if it's gaping or not healing in a couple days, a small-animal vet should suture or treat it, because hamsters go downhill fast from even small wounds.
