Privacy Policy
Who We Are
ChirpyPet (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a pet-care knowledge portal dedicated to helping pet lovers worldwide care for their animals — from breed identification to disease prevention and daily health. Our website is located at chirpypet.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
What Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate and improve the Site:
- Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe to our Pet Health newsletter, we collect the email address you provide.
- Comments. When you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name and email address you submit, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string, to help detect and prevent spam.
- Contact and feedback. If you email us or use a feedback form, we collect your email address and any information you choose to share.
- Usage data. We collect technical information such as your IP address, the pages you view, and the search terms you enter. This is used in aggregate to understand how the Site is used and to count article views.
How We Use Your Information
- Send the newsletter you requested, and let you unsubscribe at any time.
- Display, manage, and moderate comments.
- Respond to your questions, feedback, and partnership requests.
- Maintain the Site, count article views, and improve our content.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site functioning and to measure engagement. The cookies we set include:
- cp_viewed_{post_id} — a short-lived cookie (24 hours) placed when you view an article. It is used only to avoid counting the same visit twice in our view counter and contains no personal information.
- WordPress session and comment cookies — set by the platform to keep you logged in and, if you choose “remember me”, to remember your comment details.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the Site.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of third-party services:
- Google Fonts. We load typography (Inter and Poppins) from Google’s servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches these fonts, Google may receive your IP address and user-agent. Google’s privacy practices are described in Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Hosting and infrastructure. The Site is hosted by a third-party provider that processes standard server logs (including IP addresses) on our behalf.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Comments
Comments are visible to the public along with the name you provide. We do not display your email address. Comment IP addresses and user-agent strings are stored privately and used only for spam prevention.
Newsletter / Email Subscriptions
When you subscribe, your email address is stored so we can send you pet-care tips and health reminders. Every email we send includes an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can also request removal by contacting us (see below). We do not share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your Rights (EU / EEA — GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
Your Rights (California — CCPA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to request deletion, and to opt out of any “sale” of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us below.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here: newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe, comments and their metadata for as long as they remain published, and server logs for a limited period for security and operations.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data against unauthorized access.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date below. We encourage you to review it periodically.
