The feline FVRCP vaccine mainly prevents feline panleukopenia (distemper), feline herpesvirus infection, and calicivirus infection—three common and fairly harmful feline diseases. Cats that are not fully vaccinated easily catch them, seriously threatening their lives.

Panleukopenia is highly contagious and has a high death rate; calicivirus and herpesvirus are also highly contagious with a lower death rate, but if the cat is weak or treatment is delayed they can still be life-threatening.
