How often should a Western painted turtle be fed?

Feeding frequency follows growth rate. Young Western painted turtles grow fast and need feeding every 1 to 2 days; adults do fine with every 2 to 3 days, and you can extend this when it is cooler.

Low water temperature lowers appetite, and overfeeding wastes food and pollutes the water. Below 10°C the turtle hibernates and should not be fed.
