A rotting mouth is usually from poor water quality, so change water promptly and add sea salt plus a water conditioner and anti-parasite medication. Change water weekly to prevent it. Temperature swings or bacteria can also cause it; for bacterial cases, isolate the fish, stop feeding briefly, add CO2 and coarse salt to the tank to disinfect, and treat with potassium permanganate, yellow powder, or erythromycin ointment.
