How Does a Dog Get Heatstroke?

Heatstroke usually comes from too high temperature or humidity; dogs have few sweat glands and cool poorly, so prolonged heat raises body temperature.

Exercise raises temperature too, and without rest the risk grows; low water intake also causes it because panting loses water.

Signs include thirst, fast breathing, tongue color change, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures or coma.

If these appear, move to shade, give water, and go to a vet promptly.
