How can I get close to a little hamster?

Do not be too eager, because hamsters are sensitive and timid and excessive enthusiasm scares them. Provide a quiet, comfortable home and feed on a fixed schedule; once it adapts, try hand-feeding so it learns your scent, and speak gently.

After a while, gently pet it; if it does not refuse, you can slowly hold it in your hand.
